We spotted this book at a recent exhibition in London, and there was something quite special about it. The title says it all, really - this is a book about maps, a sort of children's atlas but presented in an amazingly detailed, captivating way. The publishers Big Picture Press describe it as 'a celebration of the world, from its immense mountains to its tiny insects' - and that's just what it is. 112 illustrated pages featuring everywhere from America to Antarctica, telling a story without any words. The sort of book that children could get lost inside for hours (and come away learning quite a bit). And so with Christmas around the corner, we think it would make a truly lovely and unusual gift for little ones and bigger ones, regardless of their age or gender. And there aren't very many books that do that. ***** Illustrated by Aleksandra Mizielinska and Daniel Mizielinski Published by Big Picture Press Available to purchase (currently on special offer) from Amazon
