TIGER IN BOOTS? 23 May

Stacking animal totem cubes designed in France by Djeco and available from Hop Toy Shop, published by Bobby RabbitTake ten cardboard cubes, print them on four sides, stack them on top of one other, and what do you get? More than likely, a very tall tower (and absolutely nothing wrong with that) - but arrange them very carefully, and you'll create one of these four animal characters, each one a whopping 50cm tall! Designed in France by toy makers Djeco and available in the UK from the lovely Hop Toy Shop, £16.95, this fabulous totem cube set is proof enough that not every one year old needs noisy plastic toys to have hours of fun. Not only does this one work just like a jigsaw and therefore help little ones to develop their logic and problem-solving skills, but just by stacking the blocks they'll also improve dexterity whilst learning about colours along the way. And if they'd rather just build a tower instead, that's fine too. It's educational AND fun, with endless possibilities of play. And being the sort of toy we'd have enjoyed in our own childhood, it looks pretty cool and retro too. So, if you're on the look out for a special gift for ages 18 months and upwards, we reckon this one ticks a lot of boxes. Why not give it a go?
