Did you ever wonder what it would be like to camp out under the stars with a giant panda...? Well, this little thought was the inspiration behind our latest bedtime story, Summer Camp!
This season, we wanted to create a room for little explorers that would not only look smart, but that would let their imaginations run wild from the moment they stepped inside. The monochrome colour palette took care of the 'smart' part, but we needed more than that, so we added in splashes of bright lime green, turquoise, mint and neon yellow within the accessories: Colours that would evoke a sense of excitement, adventure and of course the great outdoors.
Next came the products, and just like everything in our collection, these had to appeal to kids and adults alike.
Our amazing new House Bed, designed and made in Sweden from solid birch wood was perfect for this room, becoming not only a cosy place to sleep at night time but a fun place for imaginary play! This bed is beautifully made and so solid, it will last a lifetime.
Pandas were everywhere at the Paris shows earlier this year - and were right at home within the monochrome colour theme. We fell in love with our felt Panda Head by Fiona Walker England and our Baby Panda Lamp by Lapin and Me (which was inspired by a vintage toy discovered at a Tokyo flea market, and re-created to become a bedside light and night light for children).
We sourced some fun cushions, including Mr Cactus (who is handmade in Australia), as well as our Sleeping Bear (also from Oz) and Wigwam Cushions from Denmark. These added a playful touch, and together with our smart Cloud Cushions by Noe and Zoe provided a comfy place to sit and snuggle on the bed, on the floor on in the play den.
Our Monster Squad Bedding by British brand Tobias and the Bear is made in the UK from the same soft, jersey cotton that they use to make their beautiful leggings and tees. This bedding is SO much fun, kids will adore making friends with the crazy monsters all over it!
And with its twisting roads, forests, teepee camps and bears, the interactive Adventure Rug - also by Oyoy in Denmark - is the perfect play mat and rug for this room (and if your little one is anything like our son, there will be a long 'traffic jam' of cars queuing up on it in no time...)
Last but not least, we finished the room off with some amazing Superhero posters from Swedish brand Miniwilla. Superduper and Superhero are fun characters from an imaginary world that every child can relate to.
For who doesn't want to be a real life superhero...? Especially if you're camping out with a giant panda.
